Privacy Policy

The Indianapolis Industrial League runs a seven-team tennis league founded in 1937. This policy explains what we collect from members, why, and who can see it. It applies to this website and to the email and text messages the league sends.

What we collect

We hold only what running the league requires:

  • Account details — your name, email address, and a password you set.
  • Playing information — your NTRP rating, the team you are rostered on, your availability for fixtures, the lineups you appear in, and your match results.
  • Mobile number — only if you choose to add and verify one. It is optional, and the league works without it.
  • Consent records — if you opt in to text messages, we store the exact wording you agreed to, along with the date, your IP address, and your browser's user agent. This exists so both you and we have a record of what was agreed.

How we use it

To operate the league: to build and publish lineups, collect availability, record results and standings, arrange substitutes, and notify you about the things you have asked to be notified about. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not profile you.

Text messages

Text messaging is entirely optional. You opt in from your profile page by verifying your mobile number and ticking a consent box that is never pre-checked. During the season we send up to 15 messages per week. This is the consent you are asked to give:

You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, or by turning SMS off in your profile. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Withdrawing consent does not affect your league membership — everything the league sends by text is also available on the site, and by email if you prefer.

Who can see your information

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Your mobile number in particular is never given to anyone outside the league for any marketing purpose.

Within the league, two settings on your profile are yours to control, and both are off unless you turn them on:

  • Share Email with Team — shows your email address to the players rostered on your own team, on the team roster page.
  • Share Mobile with Team — shows your verified mobile number to those same teammates, in the same place.

That is the whole effect of these two settings on what your fellow players see. They reveal a contact detail to players on your own roster, inside the league, so a teammate can reach you about a match. That roster page shows only your own team, and only to signed-in members of it. It is not a disclosure to any third party, it is not used for marketing, and turning either setting off removes the detail from the roster page again.

The people running the league are a separate case, and these two settings do not hide anything from them. Your team captain can see your email address on the roster they manage, and a league administrator can see your email address and, if you have verified one, your mobile number — whether or not you have turned either setting on. They need it to reach you about the team you are on. They are not a third party, and none of it is used for marketing.

League officials and captains also see the information they need to run the league — rosters, availability, lineups and results. Your name, team, and match results appear on the public parts of this site, such as schedules, standings and playoff brackets. That is the nature of a competitive league.

Service providers

We use third-party providers to deliver the service — website hosting, database hosting, file storage, error monitoring, and the delivery of email and text messages. These providers process information only to deliver those services to us, under their own contractual obligations. They are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Competitive records — match results, standings, lineups and championship history — are retained indefinitely as the historical record of a league founded in 1937. That record is the reason the league keeps books at all, and it names the players who played.

Personal contact details — your email address, mobile number and account — are a different matter. We keep them while your account is active, and we will remove them on request. Email captain@industrial-league.com and a league administrator will handle it by hand; there is no self-service delete button.

Removing your contact details does not erase you from the competitive record. Your name stays on the results and standings of the seasons you played, the same way it would in a printed league book.

Consent records for text messaging are kept for as long as we may need to evidence that consent was given.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to administrative functions is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

  • Update your name, email, mobile number and notification preferences from your profile at any time.
  • Turn text messages off at any time, by reply or in your profile.
  • Turn team contact sharing off at any time.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or remove it, by emailing the address below. These requests are handled manually by a league administrator.

Children

The league is for adult players. The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page. Material changes affecting text messaging will be communicated to members who have opted in.
